The Beginners Guide To Guest Posting

The Beginners Guide To Guest Posting

Have you ever struggled to get traffic to your blog?

Or sat up late at night, kind of anxious, sitting in your chair just waiting for people to arrive?

I have too, and it wasn’t until I learnt the secrets of getting traffic – that I finally created the results that I wanted.

So pay attention, because in this post I’m going to show you how to get unlimited amounts of traffic to your blog and top Google rankings, without spending any money on expensive tools or services.

Using an old technique that’s worked since the beginning.

The fact is, this single strategy is the easiest and fastest way to grow your blog, and anyone can do it.

It’s called guest blogging.

A magical strategy that allows you to tap into other people’s existing audiences, and gain backlinks from the most powerful sites in your niche.

So this goes back a few years, when I actively promoted my old blog. Each time I did this, my traffic, my leads and my sales jumped.

Like clockwork.

So how does it work?

It’s real simple.

Guest blogging means publishing blog posts on other people’s existing blogs as a guest. I’ve talked a lot about traffic in the past, and how blogging is the smartest way for almost everyone to grow their business.

It’s because I believe in organic growth, as it’s the only thing that can sustainably grow traffic without relying on outside sources. Before I get into the guest posting, a quick story:

So you get online, and you hear about all this alien stuff, like blogging, Google Adwords, solo ads and PPC.

Maybe you try some of the paid traffic stuff, as the idea of paid traffic is a lot sexier than the idea of grinding away at blogging. Maybe, you make some money promoting a hot new deal.

After a while, the paid traffic stops working and you blame the company or the sales video, you say it doesn’t work anymore. You jump to a hot new thing and repeat the proccess. Paid traffic is more effective for a while and then it stop working.

I’ve seen the cycle repeat itself again and again, and it’s the best way of never making a lot of money in your business.

The best way, is to focus on growing organic traffic.

Growing an audience, and leveraging your traffic to create more traffic. After you’ve been blogging for a while, you may realize that in order to increase your blog traffic you need to start promoting your blog.

The build it and they will come thing doesn’t quite pan out.

So you start looking up ways to promote your blog, and find a bunch of B.S.

Like black hat SEO, spamming your link across the Internet and doing a million things to boost your rankings in Google that ends up in your domain being penalized.

After going through all the crap, you find out the only way to sustainably grow your blog traffic is through natural, organic promotion.

Blog commenting, syndication, social media, and guest blogging.

So here’s why guest blogging is the ultimate way to grow your blog:

It allows you tap into existing audiences in an instant; that have been built up through years of gruelling work.

You can post on your own blog all you want, but posting on other blogs is the easiest way to get high quality backlinks and traffic.

Sounds kinda interesting, doesn’t it?

Here’s how it works:

Step One: Find high traffic blogs in your industry:

You can look up blog directories or approach blogs you already know of, but searching Google is the easiest way of finding relevant blogs that accept guest posts.

Use these search strings:

niche + guest post
niche + guest post
niche + guest author
niche + write for us
niche + guest blog
niche + guest posting
niche + submit guest post

(Replace niche with Network Marketing/Internet Marketing etc)

After searching these phrases, you’ll find a bunch of pages on Google like this:

The next step is making a list of 10+ blogs that are relevant to your own.

The cool thing about guest posting is that it doesn’t matter who you are. Every blog that allows guest authors will accept your post, just as long as it’s good. The only thing that matters is the quality of the content you submit.

Next you have to actually reach out to them.

With a simple email or submission from their guest posting page, asking them if they’re currently accepting guest posts. If so, awesome – ask them what topics they’d like a post about or come up with a few title ideas you think their audience will enjoy.

They’ll come back to you most of the time, and you’ll agree on a specific guest post. Then you write the blog post, and send it to them as well as a link to your blog. The owner of the blog will publish your guest post, and place a link back to your blog.

That’s the technique.

I could go into more detail, but it’s not really necessary to break this down into 2000+ words and lots of images. It’s self explanatory.

People have a habit of complicating things.

But most things don’t have to be complicated at all. Guest blogging works extremely well, because it allows you to tap into other people’s existing audiences.

If you get a post published on a blog that has 10,000 readers, you might grow your own blog’s readership by 500-1000 people. Each time you publish a guest post, you get traffic, subscribers, leads and sales.

You also get high quality backlinks that boost your entire blog’s rankings in the search engines.

For all of your own posts.

Pretty badass way of growing your blog, isn’t it?

Now, a couple of things before you get started with guest blogging.

Make sure your own blog has at least 5+ high quality blog posts first (so people have something to read when they visit your blog).

Make sure you write your best content for the guest posts and always include a link back to your blog.

Don’t hold back in your guest posts, the better the quality; the more likely you’ll get posts published on high traffic blogs.

That’s all there is to it.

Guest blogging, the easiest way to grow your blog’s traffic, subscribers and rankings.

To find out how to automate this whole process, and do guest blogging a lot faster and better, checkout this post from Matthew Woodward’s blog. He’s a badass who knows a lot about SEO and blogging.

You can automate the entire process, really easily.

Great info, thanks Dave. I’ve been contemplating guest posting but never really knew how to do it – I sent out a few emails to other sites with the legacy blog but no replies. Now I have some good content in Kalatu & the blog is looking kick-ass they might take me a bit more serious. Cheers mate for this awesome content – as usual…..

Wow!!! This is amazing tip!!!
Thank you so much!
One question is the guest blog post is exclusively for other site right?
I can’t post same content on my own blog?
To avoid duplicated content?
Anyway!!! Thank you so much!!

I use to guest post on several sites a while back, and your post today has reminded me to get back to doing that. Of course, this is something we can hire a VA or other outsourcing. Thanks for the tutorial Dave!

Dave, that’s pretty cool stuff. I wonder, if accepted as a guest blogger, does the content
that I write have to be centered around that person’s blog content, or can I write my own content on something totally different. In any event, I think this is an awesome technique for tapping into existing traffic. Thanks a million.

BRILLIANT … JUST BRILLIANT. Am about to share it with the team.

Thank you David for all the value you’re bringing to our community … and it’s so exciting to get back into blogging. I have to be honest and admit that I kinda stopped blogging through all of 2014.

It was a combination of things, but mostly it was getting tendonitis. So I took a break for a year … and now my hands are a bit better, Kalatu’s here and you’re blogging like a rock star!

So I’m totally grateful and totally excited to be blogging again!

That’s all I had to say 🙂

Thanks Dave, I have to say, I knew about guest blogging from almost day 1 I joined EN and learned about blogging. Needless to say, I haven’t done a single guest post.

Since everything changed for me 2 weeks ago, I’m finally giving 100% of myself into online business and actually doing all the things I need to do 🙂

By the way, I have done a separate folder where I keep all your articles, yo come back again and again to get a reminder what needs to be done 🙂

Thanks again.
